Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Luke 7:23
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

What does it mean to be offended in Christ? How can we keep ourselves from being offended in him?

Answer:
A good example of being offended in Christ is when Peter denied him after he was arrested. Being offended in Christ is like being embarrassed or ashamed of being associated with him.

We keep from being offended in him by making sure our heart is right with him. We make sure he is our number one everything. We value our relationship with him above anything else. You are willing to stand up and defend his cause. You are not ashamed embarrassed to admit you associate with him.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Scripture writing - Psalm 62:6-12

Scripture:
6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Observations:
Verse 6- God is my only defense, salvation, and security.
Verse 7- I take refuge in God. He gives me sturdy strength and salvation. I will glory in God.
Verse 8- Everyone should trust in God all the time. We can pour our hearts out to him and take refuge in him.
Verse 9- We can not measure our worth by earthly possessions. Earthly possessions are vain. They will come to nothing eventually. We can't take them with us when we die.
Verse 10- we should not rely on earthly goods. We shouldn't rob or oppress others for worldly gain. We should not even set our heart on them to desire them greatly.
Verse 11- All power belongs to God.
Verse 12- God is merciful, but is the one who rewards every one for their actions rather they are good or bad.

Application:
We can trust God for everything. Our worth is measured by God and not what earthly possessions we have. God is all-powerful. God is merciful and everyone’s ultimately judge. We should always glorify him.

Prayer:
Dear God,
I am thankful that I can always find refuge in you. You are everything to me. You are always willing to hear what I have to say. Help me to remember to never trust in earthly goods. You are all-powerful and worthy of all my praise. Thank you for your mercy.
In Jesus’s holy name,
Amen

Prompt: "So perhaps the best thing to do is to stop writing introductions and get into the book." A. A. Milne What are your thoughts on this?

Stop talking about it and start reading. Seems like good advice to me. 😊
