My Wife’s Service 35 lines My favorite vet Has always been My spouse. She joined the US Army as an officer when she obtained US citizenship She joined in 1986 retired in 2007. she was a pioneer in many respects the First Korean born female to serve as a US Army officer stationed in South Korea/ and one of the first Asian American female officers To serve ever. She faced open racism And sexism in the conservative military Dominated still by white males From the South or rural areas. But she overcame it all. She was an inspiration To many people Especially to me. And I salute her service Every damn day. 1. The prompt for the contest will be anything to do with veterans or those serving, pride in country, flag, etc: IDEA, got one ▼ Write a story (NTE 1000 words) or poem (NTE 40 lines) inspired by: anything you wish. Please post word count for Story and Line count for Poetry. For those who are not Americans - we can't forget you! Your story or poem can be any rating. 4. Poetry or short story - old or new unawarded writes (Vanity Awardicons are allowed) 5. Only one entry per person accepted. 6. Originality counts 7. All registered members are welcome, just enter with a military theme. 8. Contests will close every month regardless of the number of entries. 3 entries only 1st place will be given, less than 7 only 1st and 2nd place will be given. 9. When an entry has been reviewed the rating will not be changed. 10. Please post your entries as a reply to the current month's contest notification post. |
