Big Changes in My Life
Big Changes in My Life

Last Monday, I went to see my doctor. It wasn’t because of my cold/flu/pneumonia that I had. It’s because of my first visit to a doctor since I retired and turned sixty-five. Yesterday, I got my test results back. I have diabetes. Luckily, it’s not the insulin type of diabetes.

Unfortunately, I have to cut back on my life. At least for the first few months while I’m trying to get my AC1 down. First of all, I will be taking two Metformin tablets every day for my AC1 and diabetes. That means I will be taking one for breakfast and another for dinner.

I have never been a big breakfast person. Of course, I eat breakfast once in a while, but now I need to do it daily. I’m used to getting up at about twelve PM to one PM WC time. Now, I will be getting up at about eight-thirty AM. That means I will be going to sleep between eleven PM to midnight WDC time.

That won’t be a big change during the week. It’s the weekend when I’m working that I will be a problem. After all, I work from Saturday at six PM WDC time to Sunday at six AM WDC time, and Sunday at six PM WDC time to Monday at six AM WDC time. Monday morning isn’t any problem, but Sunday morning maybe.

The only way that I can do it on Sunday morning is if I write my blog entry before I get off work on Sunday morning. After all, I will be going to sleep soon after I get home from work Sunday morning. I may have to do the same thing Monday morning, but it’s not as urgent as it is Sunday.

Another big change in my life is related to work, as well as when I’m not at work. I’m used to drinking about two to three bottles of pop after drinking a large drink at Quick Trip. I can’t do that now. It will be Zero Sugar, water, and tea from now on, at least for the next few months.

If I can get my AC1 down to about seven, I may be able to go back to drinking bottles of Root Beer, Sprite, etc., but I won’t be able to do it like I did before. I will still be drinking water and tea most of the time, both at work and when I’m not at work, but mainly at work.

I probably won’t be drinking too much Zero Sugar Dr. Pepper or Pepsi when I’m not working, but I will be drinking water and tea whether I want to do it or not. I’m not a big fan of water and tea because it goes straight through me, but right now I will have to drink it. There is no other choice.

My brother is also an AC1 diabetic. So, my eating habits won’t be changing that much, if at all. After all, he has been watching his AC1 for the last few years, and I have also been watching it through our eating habits. That’s why I don’t think I will have too many problems with my eating habits.

The only other big change that I may have is with these blog entries. Up until now, I was barely getting these blog entries in by one AM WDC time. Now it looks like I will need to adjust that, especially during my days off from work. I may also need to adjust them during the weekends.
