Writing.Com 101

The Fans tab is a place where you can see all of the Writing.Com members and items you've become a Fan of, and all the other Writing.Com members who are Fans of you. For more information on creating Favorites and becoming a Fan of something, please see: "My Favorites and Fans" .

The Fans tab can be accessed by going to the main Portfolio page (Portfolio/Portfolio in the left hand navigation menu), clicking on the down-arrow tab to the right of the Community tab to open the menu of additional tabs, and clicking on Fans.

The column on the left side displays the total number of your fans and lists them according to when the Fan was created, with the newest Fan at the top. The column on the right side displays totals for your member Fans and item Fans separately, and lists them according to when you created the Fan, with members listed first and items beneath that, both with the newest Fans at the top.

When you view this page, the left column shows member userlinks with the Plus icon or the Favorite Icon or the Fan icon, depending on whether you have previously set them as a Favorite or Fan or not. The displayed icon is active and can be toggled to set a Favorite or Fan, or switch between Favorite and Fan status. To remove a Favorite/Fan of a member, you must go to the main Favorites or the Favorite Authors page.

When you view this page, the right column shows member userlinks with the Fan icon, which is active and can be toggled to switch between Favorite and Fan status. A Fanned member userlink changed to a Favorite will be removed on subsequent page loads. To remove a Favorite/Fan of a member, you must go to the main Favorites or the Favorite Authors page.

The item links do not show a Fan icon. To change a Favorite/Fan status for an item, you can go to the item page or to the main Favorites page. To remove a Favorite/Fan of an item, you must go to the main Favorites page.

When other people view this page, they see the icon corresponding to their own Favorite/Fan status for all members shown in both columns.
