POE-etic emotion [Week 44 entry]
POE-etic emotion
You made your way to life in Boston town,
but lost your parents while still just a babe,
which likely set the tone for you to write
such tales as seeming set beyond the grave,
with horror catching people all around.
You took us to the pit with swinging blade
that threatened to bisect a heaving chest
as justice for transgressions ne'er made known.
In undergrounds arrayed with family crest,
a mortared wall confirmed insults repaid.
To abbey, house and flat you took the chase
through masquerade and heedless fatal feast
in search of murderers, both man and beast,
'til at each dreadful end you closed the case.
Prompt: Write a poem about your favorite poet. The title of your poem should be the name of the poet you are writing about, so Edgar Allan POE is the subject here.
Form Note: Busta Sonetto [a b x b a c d x d c e f f e; Iambic Pentameter or Similar]
