The biggest plus for living in your town/area
The biggest plus for living in my town is the remoteness of it all. I live in a small town north of the biggest city in Montana. But as you travel up Route 87 north to Roundup, a two-lane road, you almost immediately lose all sense of being in any sort of metropolis. There is nothing to see for miles and miles. Just wide open space. And that is what I love the most. The big sky, the open space.
I live in town, but I can drive 5 miles in any direction and be in the middle of nowhere, or so it seems. Roundup is pretty small by city standards. We are growing, but not tremendously. We can handle the growth. People come here because it is small.
This is a safe place to live. I like that fact most of all. I feel safe most anywhere I go. I can walk around anywhere in town and feel safe.
I was never so glad to live in Montana as when the pandemic scare hit us all. We had minor hiccups, but basically most of us went about life as if nothing had happened. We went to stores, we went out to eat, we went to church. The schools were closed for a short time. We lived our lives because nothing happens if you sit at home. No cattle get fed. No livestock get watered. No crops get taken care of. All the rest of the country will not eat if the farmers sit at home. No meals get delivered for Meals on Wheels if someone doesn't volunteer. Even the Museum stayed open.
So we love living in our town and our state. Like they say, it's the last best place.
