Never expect the expected, it doesn't work like that I was cycling to work, when my wheel it got a flat So I thought that I'd be late, but then I got a lift It was the Boss' daughter, and she's something of a gift I thought, my luck is in here, the day is going well Then she opened the window wide, cried, "What is that smell?" My lunch box was the culprit, its filled with hard boiled eggs I thought "Oh gawd I've blown it", but then she crossed her legs And smiled at me inviting, for me to make a move Really I was tempted, but her Dad would disapprove So I thanked her for the lift, quickly scrambled out the door Thinking that is that then, and of course I'd hear no more Set to work on the job in hand, then I get a call My number's up I'm fearing, I'm heading for a fall They offered me promotion, a step nearer to the top Surely she's behind it, and the penny it did drop Expecting the expected, instead I'd met my match For she's a bobby dazzler, and certainly a catch She was waiting at the gate, when I was bound for home She drove us to the airport, and we flew off to Rome.
