Prayer prompt Pray for the people who work to keep our utilities running such as water, gas, and electricity. Blog prompt In Psalms 23 when the psalmist says “I shall not want. . .” he’s seeing himself in the role of a sheep, totally dependent on his “shepherd” for every thing needed for existence and sustenance. Everything. Have you ever felt that dependent? What does the word “want” mean in this context? How does this compare to our relationship with God? This past year has been one of dependence. Almost a year ago, I had a double kidney infection go septic, and was lucky to come out of it alive. Since then, from using a walker, and several surgeries, and now dealing with CKD stage III. My kids have been loving and gracious, and maybe a little bit mother-hen(ish). I am grateful to them and am hoping to not be so dependent upon them soon. At least, that is the hope. I shall not want...I believe that it means that I shall not have any needs missed. God gives us what we "need" rather than just what we "want", as we are prone (I am, anyway) to waste "wants" on things not in God's will for us. I mean, I want a nice juicy steak and baked potato...but my body "needs" a chef salad with some tuna. Food, just better for me. God does that, but so much infinitely better for us, if we would just accept His will. That is my two-cents' worth, today. |
