The simplicity of my day to day. |
Prompt: It is easier to solve other people's problems because you aren't emotionally involved. Write about this in your Blog entry today. I agree with the sentiment of the prompt wholeheartedly. It’s that dreadful churning in the stomach and the constant going over and over a problem in the mind that can stop one from finding a solution to a problem. Being unaffected personally by those feelings and worries makes finding solutions to other’s problems easier. You may advise a person to seek a confrontational conversation with someone who may be causing their worries, but then ant the end of the day its not you who has to face that challenge, and that is far easier said than done. Or you may come out with the usual platitudes such as ‘this too will pass,’ or ‘it’s always darkest before the dawn.’ Both of which I’ve found myself saying this week! They were my mother’s sayings by the way.🤔 I’ve learned to try not to give advice but sometimes it’s difficult, but I have found it’s not usually advice people are seeking, more of a sounding board to bounce their problems off. Counselling is an art. A counsellor never gives advice, just listen, reflects back, until the client realises themselves what needs to be done. And when all’s said and done, who listens to advice anyway? |
