| Question: "What does you're animal do to calm you down?" I'm sure there are many stories but write a poem about it. --Just the fact that he exists can answer this question, but his purr also helps to ground me when I am feeling anxious. And the poem.... A rumble starts up slow and easy Soft fur rubs against my leg Then flops into a roll Paws in the air He wriggles his head The rumble getting louder As my hand makes contact And gives his stomach a rub When I stand and move away He maneuvers up and follows me Like a shadow never letting me out of his sight. He's my alarm clock with four legs and a tail Calling hello at my door Jumping excitedly when I emerge from my room His innocence shining in his eyes Still, when he stalks mischievously - I hum the theme to the Pink Panther And watch his tail curl up and around I swear he winks at me. Then jumps up on the stool to look me square in the eye Before I wrap my arms around him For one very big hug. He's my big boy Shanti. Lines = 25 Words = 149 Notes ▶︎ ![]() ![]() ![]() |
