I have recently been thinking about the 31st. Not just any 31st, but I am thinking about December 31st. New Years Eve is one night where everyone in the timezone decides to start over. Here's my question:

What makes it special?

I don't see what the big deal is. To me New Year's Eve is just like any other night. I never do anything different. But why, then, do I feel like I should? For the last 16 New Year's Eves of my life, I have wasted away at home doing nothing. And guess how long I've lived? HINT: It's less than 17 years. But from the way everyone treats it, this night should be special. So why is it that New Year's Eve isn't special to me? Why does New Year's Eve just feel like every other night to me, but I also the feeling that it should feel special? Maybe it's because there's nobody for me to feel special with.
