Closed for business, but be sure to check out my new place! |
| Last night I sent off my latest Christian Writer's Guild assignment, and one part of it I was required to think of 6 emotion words (such as love, hate, fear, etc) and then add 10 simliar words describing the same. My thesaurus sure did get a workout! I'm still in that mode, trying to think of different ways to say the same thing. So today in describing my mood begins with "maudlin". Equivalents (according to Microsoft Word's thesaurus): over-sentimental, mawkish, sappy, slushy, mushy, syrupy, weepy, self-pitying. Self-pitying seems the most apt, though I don't know why. Sure, a few things are bothering me (and so early in the day, that's not a good sign!), but nothing so important as to be the root cause. For part of the reason, you can check out my latest entry in my publication journal, "Hello?" It could also be as simple as my coffee not doing its job yet, or a natural down since I was in a really good mood yesterday. Do we always have to have an external reason to feel the way we do, or could it merely be a hiccup in brain chemistry? Hmm. Looking at it that way, perhaps all I need is a bit of chocolate or some other "happy" food! |
