Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
Two swans Two regal black beaks, soft whitish plush down. Mounted on wood, they looked blankly through us as they stretched long thin necks side by side. Only one yellow patch told which played the trumpet, which played on tundra. Silent now, they abide. © 2008 Kåre Enga [165.370] 2008-12-08 Audobon meeting last evening. Saw a crossbill and siskin (on sticks) and two mounted necks and heads of swans (trumpeter and tundra). The main part of the meeting was slides of birds of Panama (from the Darien in the east to volcán Barú in the west). Tundra swan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Cygnus_bewickii_01.jpg Trumpeter swan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NPS_Wildlife._Trumpeter_Swan_on_Nest.jpg ME: Monday: another off day. Went to a presentation on birds in Panama; had hot chicken salad for $5; used my new charge card ... it works; snizzled a bit; listened to Michelle play the bodhran; a second friend suggests I sell my 'zine; got up late. There are always off days like this ... ... and then all hell breaks out loose. Tuesday: yet another day. Went to Dauphine's (the restaurant) to join the Spanish Circle. Spoke mostly with Ginny. Should've taken a walk with Tricia but I was anxious because I didn't have my phone on me. It was at home, of course. I bought a black winter down jacket at Army/Navy for $20. It has been unseasonably mild, but Missoula is supposed to be in single digits on Sunday. The forecast hasn't been right much-at-all recently though. Life is currently boring, but I'm a bit anxious about other issues. Montana: 39º at 16:00 9522 |
