Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

In dying places
In dying places

I can only afford to live in dying places.
The growth of commerce costs too much.
I seek to remain behind in forgotten spaces:
the highway ditch, the garbage dump.
There life seethes and slimes among the rot and blooms
beyond Man's reach, his urge to pluck.

In these places that exist around the world,
for every city has its slum
each posh resort its shanty town.
I seek to hunt these paradises down
before the whores of wealth and glamor
gentrify their nooks and cranies
spoil them for the poor who must survive.

I thrive throughout these bitter times
in dying places somehow left behind.

"I can afford to live in dying places." was the prompt for this poem written in Seattle last November.

BLAH BLAH BLAH (when will he ever shut up ...):

0 degrees and I've decided to go nowhere. I did go to Kathleen's though and meet with the Montana Writer's Guild. Met Elaine, Jennifer and all the usual suspects. Finally officially joined as well.

Shared some concern's over Nona's new book. The font is too small and not appropriate for the intended age group. It cheapens what is otherwise a very nicely done book. I realize font size is a very very small detail, but even in producing a chapbook it is important. My first effort, "Foo Foo Wars", was done in 14 font if I remember right. Sushi was mostly done in 8 font. I would expect children's books to be done in larger print. Artistic endeavors can play around with font type and size, but most books follow standards for their genre and intended audience. Audience is important only if you want it to be read ...

There was some sunshine today and temps weren't as bad as expected.

But ... I got up late. And due to bad dreams (written about elsewhere), I have been good to myself. Like: I bought some rosemary potato bread. Great with just butter. *Wink*

Since no one here has ever done bad drugs you shouldn't look at these psychodelic shrooms:

And if you just did take a peek, I hope you are still not on them. *Smirk*

And do NOT read this in my O Pinion! blog if you don't like bitter:
