the Hermit

I pulled the Hermit card today. Interesting because I've recently re-connected with a longtime friend who considers the Hermit card as her "personal" card of the Tarot. And both I and my friend have been living as Hermits these past years without a lot of social connections because of too many other committments.

But this week I have been being less of a hermit actually and re-connected with another long lost friend that I haven't spoken to in almost three years.

In the Gaian Tarot, Joanna Powell Colbert states that even the hermit belongs to a clan, a tribe, and needs to remember to re-connect.

Perhaps what I'm trying is to re-establish ties and connections to a true tribe, one that will nourish and support me. Joanna speaks often of her "mermaid sisters"....there must be mermaid brothers, too.

I suspect that many people will be connecting however superficially with Super Bowl parties today. I don't care much about football but would like to see the New Orleans Saints win.

In honor of SuperBowl Sunday I've made a pot of chili and a pan of cornbread----bought tortilla chips and beer. Would hate to be so un-American as not to celebrate at all.

Yesterday spent the day with grandkids and son at the Everglades Seafood Festival.....a time for solitude, a time for socializing, a time for work, a time for rest, difficult to find time for it all.
