My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you? |
This week I am listening to John Updike's "The Widows of Eastwick" during my commute to and from work. I have not read the prequel to this book "The Witches of Eastwick" but vaguely remember the movie adaptation of some years ago with Cher, Michelle Peiffer, and Jack Nicholson. Updike's book I believe was probably darker and more sinister than the movie, judging from this sequel. I remember the movie as a light-hearted romp. When I finish "Widows"...I hope to go back and encounter "Witches". In deference to the books I pulled from "The Witch's Tarot"-----3 of wands----3 of fire. In his novels Updike's story centers on a coven of 3 New England women, and in "Widows" catches up with them as they are aging and dealing with issues of mortality. The 3 of wands speaks to me about how it is we wield power in the world. I am having to learn how to be a manager, how to wield power, to be assertive.....something often difficult for me. On a less mundane level the card speaks to me of connecting to spiritual power. Truly, the use of power in both the material and spiritual worlds are connected. How do you wield your personal power?
