My poison is café mocha

Chocolate coffee
I can’t decide which is best
So I drink them both

I learned to drink coffee from my Grandpa Newland. He made what he called “Cowboy Coffee”. The first thing he did when he woke up each day was make a pot of coffee. In an electric or stovetop coffee pot (it depended on where he was when he made the coffee), he would combine ten to twelve tablespoons of coffee in a twelve cup coffee pot and plug the coffee pot in (or turn on the stove if he was at the mobile home he had on Lake Blackwell). When the coffee perked, he would drink a cup or two and then start the days work.

If there were coffee in the pot, Grandpa left the pot plugged in or on the heat and the coffee perked on and off all day. Periodically, Grandpa would come in and drink a cup before doing something else. When the coffee was finished, he would make a fresh pot, but not until he drank all the coffee, he made. If you don’t remove the basket from a peculator, the coffee stays hot by going through the coffee grounds again. It doesn’t take long to make “Cowboy Coffee” using this method.

When I first began drinking coffee (I don’t remember how old I was at the time), Grandpa or Grandma would add a little bit of coffee to my cream and sugar. Eventually, I stopped putting cream and sugar in my coffee because I thought it tasted better black. I drank my coffee this way for a while and then I discovered cafĂ© mocha, which combined my two favorite liquids. Now I switch between black coffee and cafĂ© mocha; of course, I am open to other types of exotic coffees. The only think I won’t add to coffee is alcoholic beverages because my religion forbids drinking alcohol.

With hot cocoa mix

To make cafĂ© mocha at home, you mix one to three tablespoons of hot cocoa mix (or one package of mix) to one cup or mug. Next you pour in freshly made hot coffee and stir. This beverage may also be consumed cold, I’m still experimenting to figure out the proper number of ice cubes to pour the hot cafĂ© mocha over.
