Future Imperfect:
A funhouse mirror hides
reality
through distorted images;
dark and ominous omens
conceal
tomorrow’s happiness
in dire predictions of disaster.

Future History:
Attempts to foretell
and warn
against technological catastrophes,
alien invasions,
or the divergent paths humanity may walk
by incorporating events into
science fiction stories.

Imperfect predictions
sometimes come to me through dreams
that appear to warn
of impending calamities
or victories,
but they never reveal the path
to avoid the ill
or accomplish the good;
so I live
knowing that tomorrow may bring
triumph or tragedy
to myself and humanity.

I live each day to write....
what?
Future imperfect history,
fantasy,
poetry,
or is it that my soul must inscribe
its journey
toward eternity.
