If you do not know, why should pour our my soul and tell you? Why must you assume it is something fiendish? Don't you think I am capable of something wonderful? Do you think I could have won the lottery? But would I tell you that? Would I leave you hanging? Why do you look so put out? Is it because I will not tell you? Is it because I ask so many questions? Then why are you reading this menagerie of words? Do you think it is going somewhere? Does it unsettle you? Don't you have something better to do? Have I annoyed you? That my friend was the plan....mmmmhaw haw haw. And now if you are still here... thank you for that... Welcome To My Reality – Week Twenty - Six 6. Tell us about the books you've read this year. Do you change genres very often? How long does it take you to read a book? Is reading a chore or a last resort against boredom, or is it a much loved and anticipated part of your day? So far this year I have read and completed 44 books - and yes, I do keep a record of each one of them. With my mind I am bound to pick up one I have already read before - and I have done that on at least one occasion. I mostly read romance as that is the genre I tend to write in or try to anyway. Relationships interest me. But it is not the only genre I read. I have read fantasy - most of it young adult, but not all. I have read all the Harry Potter books. I have read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I am currently reading The Game of Thrones, but have slowed down a bit now that the GoT challenge is done. I tend to read many books at once and it helps to read different genres to keep the stories straight. I read non-fiction - reference books for writing and teaching. I can read a romance in a few hours if need be - I have stayed up into the night to finish a book even when I know I am working the next day. To me it is as good as watching a movie only my own mind runs the film and I can reread lines and sections I really enjoyed. To give you an idea of styles this is a list of current contenders for my time: Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin Undone by Shannon Richard Fever by Maya Banks Your Novel: Day by Day by Mary Anna Evans The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho No More "I'm Done": Fostering Independent Writers in the Primary Grades by Jennifer Jacobson My Goodread.com account is always active. 30 Day Blogging Challenge Prompt to come later....Shadows Within Shadows Within – brought out two little poems... Each of Us Each of us holds a place of darkness. Each of us hides a part of ourselves. Each of us denies that part of us Each of us lies about the shadows within. Shadows Within Shadows Within Grow exponentially with the pain They rise up on the walls around us Closing us off from any kind of help. We cower at that very part of us We never want to show the world. |
