My Choice

"Get rid of it!"
You said with such disgust,
as if the child w were discussing
was conceived in hate,
not lust.

My choice was made!
To obey you
would only compound the problem:
Could I
absolve on sin
by committing another?

You didn't want to hear my view!
You cared
only about yourself,
and how my decision affected you;
I knew
life began at conception.

I wrote this in 145 B.E. It was several years after I came to Las Vegas, and give my daughter up for adoption. This poem is addressed to my daughter's father. I believe that life begins at conception; I, also, believe that each woman has to decide for herself how to deal with a pregnancy.
