| You say there are no monsters, Lurking in the shadows at night, But you don’t know the hulking shapes, That emerge when you turn out the light. They don’t run when I tell them to go, But they flee when you answer my call. I guess it’s because you’re so strong and big, And I am so very small. That spider that you killed for me, It weighed at least five pounds. And the ghosts that wait for me to sleep Make such dreadful sounds. I tell you I’ve seen ugly faces, Outside the window in my room. Glowing eyes (not car lights) Plotting for my doom. You’re wrong to ignore my scary tales, Or call it imagination. I’ve told you a thousand million times, It’s not exaggeration. 20 Lines Promptly Poetry Week 8 Prompt: Write a poem where you tell someone they are wrong and why. |
