My blog page |
Thank you! First of all, thank you to everyone who has sent me best wishes for my twelfth account anniversary - Not to mention the MBs, cNotes, and notebook posts! I only wish I had found this site back in 2000 when it was Stories.com. An extra ten years of a younger and fitter me could have made me a much better writer and WDC member. Perhaps I'll find a time machine and go back to September 2000, or just write a story about it. It would be nice to email The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress and tell them what a fantastic impact their (Then) little venture would have on so many people around the world. This is a virtual world for writers and readers, but friendships are real. The grief felt by all when we lose a member, is the same grief we feel for our friends offline. The joy when a friend gets published or achieves any real-life goal or ambition is as heartwarming as when it happens in our real-life circle of friends. I hope to be here for a few more years, but I am convinced with the quality of members we have joining, the site will outlive us all. Thank you all for making this such a wonderful place to be. |

While sifting through the mountains of items in "The Newbies Academy Group" and updating everything before we officially reopen on June 1st, I found this and remembered why I started the group.
I am still amazed at the response I had when I asked for volunteers to help run the group this time around. Just as in the past, amazing people stepped forward and were quick to offer help in any way they can. So, for 2021, I would like to thank the following members for volunteering their services: 💙 Carly-wrimo 2024 Samberine Everose Shaye Andy~hating university Lilli 🧿 ☕ ruwth Beacon's Anchor Legendary❤️Mask Turtle ~ KanyáthƐko:wa:h Cat Carroll Mary Ann MCPhedran and DMT - THANK YOU WRITE.COM My gratitude and appreciation to all who have risen to the challenge of helping our newest members begin their WDC journey. They say a picture paints a thousand words, but how about just three? |
The ReWrite contest will return in September 2021.
You're proud of your portfolio. You've put up some great work, and excellent feedback has helped you make it even better. Through the years, your skill has grown - nothing shows that better than when you happen to look through your old work and suddenly feel an urge to set it on fire. You were once proud of it, but now you see it has so many flaws that no number of revisions could save it. The characterization is weak; the description is empty, the overall style is immature and poorly formed. Don't burn it. Rewrite it. Warmest regards, ~ Santa Sisco ~ |
Infamy! I was the guest author on the "Tweep Nation" podcast this week. It lasted for 1hr45min, so it might be best to have it playing while you do something else. The hostesses: Dionne Lister is a very talented Australian author. YA fantasy with lots of dragons. Dionne is often asked to attend and speak at literary events. Amber Norrgard is a very talented American author. Specialising in erotic stories and poetry. Amber also teaches about social media. WARNING! If this podcast was on W.Com, it would have a CRS rating 18+ Tweep Nation Podcast 77. Guest author - Paul Sisco. |

Hi blog readers. For anyone not on planet Earth in November... It was NaNoWriMo. (National Novel Writing Month) I ended the push with 50,189 words, (Target is 50k +) and as it was my first - I am exhausted. Well done to all that participated, even if you didn't reach the 50k! You did write more than you would have done if you hadn't taken part. I was also very pleased to receive an e-mail to tell me I had won something else... Best member to member poetry reviews for October 2012 from "The Rising Stars Tour Bus" Thank you Hannah ♫♥♫ and GabriellaR45 Also a big thank you to A.T.B: It'sWhatWeDo for providing the wonderful MB that comes with the award. Please don't forget that the "SGDG Annual Christmas Auction-Raffle " will end on Sunday 9th December. Only 7 days left to get those tickets, and make your bids for the great packages on offer! Regards, Sisco.

Hi. All the previous mentions of an off site project can now be revealed to all. ***Now defunct website*** "We also aim to place a spotlight on self-published authors. Their wonderful novels and collections are often over looked. We endeavor to find these gems, and bring them to your attention by laying down a challenge to their Authors. This challenge can be found in our ’The Hook’ section on our site." That is where I step in with my talented assistant wizzie. I look forward to reading a lot of first chapters from members here that have gone down the self-published route. I hope to spotlight gripping first chapters and give it the exposure a good novel will need to succeed. The first chapter (Prologue may be added) should 'hook' the reader into wanting to read more. I am pleased that we have already posted some chapters and look forward to posting many more. Unfortunately, I have also had to reject some submissions. I didn't realize how hard it is to send a rejection letter ~ but the chapter has to hook me into reading more... I look forward to seeing many submissions from W.Com members. Regards, Sisco.

Hello readers... First of all, "I Write in June-July-August " has finally finished for me. A big thank you to NaNoNette for getting me to write something every week for the past 13 weeks. Well I did miss one week, but I was ending an auction and reviewing all the entries for my "Newbies ONLY Short Story & Poem Contest" so I don't feel to guilty. I managed to get a one year premium membership renewal, due to the generosity of the wonderful people on here! Thank you all that helped - I know who you are... I have also been working on an off site project that will be announced on here soon. I am looking forward to that. You can expect some news next month, so watch this space! Well I guess that is about it for now, except I am looking forward to the W.Com birthday celebrations over the next few weeks. Regards, Sisco K
