'The Kiwi Dream' is to do your OE (overseas experience) and then own your own house on a quarter acre section... I'm....not quite there yet.
I live in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city. It might be the largest, but it's still only just over a million people, so not a big city by international standards.
I am married (sixteen years now!) to Dodgy Steve. He's not addicted to WDC as I am. His current obsessions are whisky and fishing!
We have two children - Jayden is 18 and Caitlin is 14. They are both the light and the bane of my life. You'll see that, in this blog. Most of my dramas are caused by the smallish people in my life!
My big dream is to buy that home on the quarter acre section, and then when the kids have left home, TRAVEL!
Oh man, Ravyn was diagnosed with ADD at 7 and I felt like a terrible mom. She would constantly forget the most simple things and say "I don't know" nearly every time I asked her a question. Here I was getting on to her for not paying attention and it turned out she really couldn't help it. We used medication for a while, but when I started teaching her at home I took her off of it. It took a while for us both to find a good routine, but I think we've made a lot of progress. I used to write out a list of things for her to do because if I said, "While I'm gone I want you to wash the dishes, take out the trash, and give the dog a bath." She would start washing the dishes, stop to use the bathroom (or whatever), totally forget to finish the dishes, and then have no idea what she was supposed to be doing. She's 15 now and writes her own lists, which I think is a good sign!
I've only done one of the UPC poems. The Welsh forms are daunting so I need to sit down with them and work my way around the poetics... because I'm sure there's more to the forms than the links mention. Welsh is a musical culture so I suspect their poetry is as well.
I didn't sign up for 30DBC but I occasional steal a prompt. I had problems with the prompts in May, but then my life was a disaster in May.
Very interesting. I never really knew this. Would you be willing to review my short "Journey of the Heart?" It's on Amazon now, so not quite an ARC, but I could go for an honest review. I'll send you a copy? Let me know. No pressure. Steph
