Toe in the Water

A tentative blog to test the temperature.

Ten years ago I was writing several blogs on various subjects - F1 motor racing, Music, Classic Cars, Great Romances and, most crushingly, a personal journal that included my thoughts on America, memories of England and Africa, opinion, humour, writing and anything else that occurred. It all became too much (I was attempting to update the journal every day) and I collapsed, exhausted and thoroughly disillusioned in the end.

So this blog is indeed a Toe in the Water, a place to document my thoughts in and on WdC but with a determination not to get sucked into the blog whirlpool ever again. Here's hoping.

And now my only task is to work out which two. That's not as easy as it may seem since all of them are very British in normal usage and might be unfamiliar in the US.

. I'm still pondering on the significance of the single headlight in the song. Perhaps because the singer and his girlfriend were once the two headlights?

- You can't please all the people all of the time and it was just that I couldn't think of anything to say about leather. So the problem was me, Jayne, not you. Hopefully, my little nonsense ditty makes up for any misunderstanding!

That's amazing. I just recently heard on the radio about some problems with students entering college who can't read. Yet here is a child who self-taught before entering school.

Little Brown Jugger

It’s a bit of a bugger.
though not a heart tugger,
that the serial hugger
makes a beeline for me.

I would rather play rugger
than be forced to mug her.
Perhaps escape on a lugger
is the best option I’ll see.
