I'm not retail supported during the holidays. I make all my gifts during the year for the grandchildren. My adult children know I'll be sending them homemade candy and cookies for them along with a newly made Christmas ornament for their tree. My husband and I have are very frugal people and don't fall into the insanity of December.

Lying in the snow making snow angels is one of my favorite things to do with my grandchildren. Until four years ago, I lived where it snowed every winter. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada now, it's a desert climate. We do get to see Mt. Charleston covered in snow in the distance, Pretty to look at and with no shoveling. I don't miss that part of winter.
I've been reading Sarah Maas trilogy Crescent City- House of Earth and Blood, House of Sky and Breath, and House of Flame and Shadow. Each of the books are 800pages of amazing world building, interesting characters with their own agendas that complicate each other's lives. Reading is my relaxation.
Sitting on a beach used to be my go to but now living in the desert, it takes us five hours to get to the Pacific Ocean so it's less appealing.

I know with my youngest grandchild, she's 12, we are always reminding her to use her manners. And when her friends are over, often I'm blessed with the rolled eyes. They have no idea; how stubborn I am because I don't allow them to get drinks or a snack without using their manners. My granddaughter is learning I don't give.
As a child, I would've never dared roll my eyes or not use my manners at home or at my friend's house.
I can relate about not caring what others think, the older I get the less I care about following trends.
