The Bradbury Contest opens in [Refresh to load countdown.] Click here to jump down to the forum Item Alias: bradburycontest Welcome to The Bradbury Contest, run in partnership with "The Bradbury" ! The purpose of this contest is to provide an opportunity for entries in The Bradbury to compete for additional prizes. If you're particularly proud of one of the stories you wrote during a given month of 2025, submit it to this contest for a chance to win a genre-appropriate merit badge and an awardicon while you're powering ahead with your next Bradbury entry! This contest runs every month of the year, and is exclusively for Bradbury entries written during that same month. Overview ———————————————————— Contest rounds begin at 12:00am on the 1st day of every month. Contest rounds end at 11:59pm on the last day of every month. Only one entry may be submitted per contest round, and that entry must have also been submitted to "The Bradbury" the same month. Entries must be: Newly written in the month they are submitted for the contest. No more than 3,000 words (no minimum). Prose fiction (no nonfiction or poetry) that ... ... tells a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. Short stories can be in any genre and of any rating. Stories should be created as either Static Items or Book Entries. Entries should be posted individually in the forum below and include the following: The applicable month as the heading / subject line of your post (e.g., "January Entry"). A WritingML link to your story, in either {bitem:} format or {entry:} format. The story's word count. The Fine Print ———————————————————— 1. Non-Exclusivity. While stories must be newly written for the month in which they are entered for this contest, they do not need to have been written exclusively for this contest. In fact, you're encouraged to find other contests and activities on Writing.com to participate in! If you write an entry for one of the official contests, for example, make sure you submit it here so your writing can count for both! As long as your entry meets the criteria for this activity as well, that's great! 2. Feedback. While the goal is for all entries to receive a review, please keep in mind that - depending on the number of entries - reviews may not happen, or those reviews may or may not be very detailed. Participants should not have an expectation of having their contest entries extensively reviewed. 3. Separate Activity. "The Bradbury" activity has its own rules and requirements which can be found in that forum. Not every Bradbury entry will necessarily qualify for the Bradbury Contest. For example, the word count limit for the contest is lower than that of the activity. 4. Questions and Concerns. If you have any questions or concerns about the activity at any point, please contact Jeff . Prizes ———————————————————— If there are three (3) or more qualifying entries, the following will be awarded: FIRST PLACE An Awardicon worth at least 50,000 GPs An appropriate genre merit badge If there are six (6) or more qualifying entries, the following will also be awarded: SECOND PLACE An Awardicon worth at least 25,000 GPs An appropriate genre merit badge If there are nine (9) or more qualifying entries, the following will also be awarded: THIRD PLACE An Awardicon worth at least 10,000 GPs An appropriate genre merit badge Honorable Mentions will be given out at the judges' discretion: HONORABLE MENTIONS An Awardicon (value TBD) OR An appropriate genre merit badge Donations ———————————————————— Donations are gladly accepted.
