Your block scheduling explanation made perfect sense to me, but that's because it's the way Number One Son's school does it. So if anyone needs a first-hand explanation of how it works, ask me.
For those that make the mistake I initially made of thinking it was college style scheduling... it isn't. Absolute madness. They would have been much better off going with a college scheduling style than with the perpetual confusion that is "Is it A-day or B-day today? I was up to late studying and now I CAN'T REMEMBER!" (that was a direct quote of my son, by the way)
