We've discussed and considered ala carte pricing in the past and we really feel it's not in the best interest of WdC as a whole. It is important to understand that the packages for membership have been built to best meet the site's needs to provide safe and stable service to its members. We've been able to do this and maintain our membership pricing without any increases for many years. The problem with "ala carte" pricing from the perspective of the site are numerous. They include the problem of decreased revenue - as rather than move up, people purchase ala carte additions. In the long run, this may sooner lead to overall price increases, than it does true cost savings to members. We do ala carte costumicons from time to time and do hear the pricing is too high. So the issues putting a fair price on a single book item added to one's portfolio. The overhead involved in tracking and managing a single paid book item is the same as it is for an entire paid membership. And with the added overhead for renewing and reminding comes the heartbreaking process of removing individual books that may not have been paid for. And the truth is that memberships average out the costs. Not everyone fills all their books, not everyone fills all their port space, not everyone uses all their images, etc. It is generally expected when determining the pricing we have to charge for memberships what those would be that most people won't use everything their given, so the costs are shared for what people do use out of a membership. So, for someone to say "I've filled all my space, and I'm going to now fill this extra book.", that means we have to charge a lot for that book. It will be used. Best wishes, ~~SM
