Guenevere and Lanceltot du Lac-my entry
by A Non-Existent User
Arthur's wife and best friend were caught in Guenevere's bed chamber. It was a trap set by Mordred, Arthur's illegitimate son, born by his sister Morgause. A small party that consisted of Mordred, Agravaine, Gawaine and Gaharis, followed Lancelot to Guenevere's chamber and caught them in the act.

Arthur gave permission to this though he highly doubted his beloved Lancelot du Lac and Guenevere betrayed him thus. Everyone knew about the affair and always, they tried to convince Arthur about it, he refused.

Who can blame these lovers? Arthur was more than twice their ages and Guenevere and Lancelot were young.

When the party caught the lovers, they forced Lancelot to fight back. In this process, Lancelot slew Agravaine and caused even more hatred between him and Mordred.

Lancelot escaped and the heartbroken Arthur sentenced her to death by being burned at the stake. Lancelot showed up at the time she was to die, killing many soldiers of Arthur's to save his lover. Lancelot also killed Gareth, whom thought Lancelot to be his hero.

The lovers escaped to a small castle in Cornwall and stayed there till they were besieged by an enemy and Guenevere was captured and sent back to Arthur, who then had her burned for that was what she was condemned for for her treason.

This is also in my articles on history in my portfolio
