Yeah, I was speaking from experience. The issue is that, although it does keep the link to the chapter in the list of contributions, it just takes you to the "The item you are looking for no longer exists" page if you actually click the link. If the item gets deleted, then all that work is more or less lost forever. That's why I think deleted items should be saved on some storage bin, where they will have maybe a 1week grace period before getting permanently deleted. That way, if someone else felt like they had put a significant amount of work into the story (or just liked it and didn't want it gone from the site), they could use one of their own portfolio slots to rescue the deleted item.
I think making a system like that would be very much doable, and I'm sure quite a few people who spend a lot of time adding to others' interactives would love this.
