He stared at her as she packed up all her things. He couldn’t believe that this was happening. They had been together for so long. He couldn’t even fathom a life without her.
“You aren’t even giving us a chance,” he said.
“I’ve given it plenty of chances, Steve. You’ve been unemployed for two years. You don’t even try to find a job anymore. You just sit there playing video games that I pay for, watching sports on a television that I purchased and pay the cable bill on and drinking beer that, guess what, I buy.” She finished packing one suitcase and moved on to another one. “I’m done, Steve. I can’t take it anymore. Nothing is going to change. Nothing ever does.”
