My friends literally call me Casaubon because I'm always comparing myths and legends. He's a character in Eliot's Middlemarch who's writing A Key to All Mythologies. Granted, he's awful...and fails...but still. Christmas Trees were Germanic. They were part of Yule celebrations, as they're always evergreens and are thus symbolic of the continuing life through the dead times of winter. It was actually Victoria and Albert who brought the tradition to England and, thence, to the rest of the English speaking world. Those pictures are beautiful! -Quaddy
