A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
"Add brief descriptions, drawings, images or Google Maps coordinates (find the location on Google Maps/Earth and record the URL) for each." Uh huh. I'm writing science fiction. Nonterrestrial, future science fiction. I can't draw worth a damn (which is funny because I spent most of my professional career as a drafter, transitioning from ink to CADD - and I no longer have access to AutoCAD), there are no images, and Google Maps is worse than useless for a planet whose only population center is underground and is, incidentally, not Earth. Fortunately, I can write (or so I'm told) and I have a vivid imagination, so the descriptions weren't much of a problem. I used to have this program that would generate fractal worlds. I used it for D&D. The cool thing about it was, once the world was generated, you could map it onto Google Earth. It wasn't cheap. I no longer have that one, either - the computer it was on died (go to hell, HP). Still not really useful for what I'm doing - I'd need a dungeon generator, and I've never found a really good one of those. |
