*Check*Introducing Myself...
by ruwth Author IconMail Icon

I am doing "a very Wodehouse challengeOpen in new Window. this month.

My challenge is about Jane Austin.

The first task is to introduce myself here and write something about Jane Austin.

Here is what I knew about Jane Austin before starting this challenge:

NOTHING!!!

*Blush* I did not even know Jane Austin was the author of Pride and Prejudice.

I know I read Pride and Prejudice many, many, many years ago however I do not remember anything about it! *Blush*

If memory serves me, I actually read it twice—first in school and then later on my own. I am not sure I read the whole book either time. *Blush*

My first step after accepting this Jane Austin challenge was to go to my Overdrive app and see if I could borrow the book from my local library. I was in for a surprise. The library has several copies of the ebook and audiobook but NONE are available. One said it would be about 12 weeks before I could get it because I was number 6 on the waiting list. One of the audiobooks will be available sooner—hopefully in time for me to listen to it while I work on this challenge.

So, this is my initial introduction to meet the first requirement in the challenge.

I will do a bit of research and come back and edit this post to tell a bit about Jane here as well.

Be back soon (hopefully)...

P.S. I was surprised to discover that Jane Austen only had a total of four books published while she was alive:

1811 - Sense and Sensibility
1813 - Pride and Prejudice
1814 - Mansfield Park
1815 - Emma

There were three more books published posthumously:

Persuasion
Northanger Abbey
Sandition

Sandition was not finished when Jane Austen died in 1817.

The last three books were published the year of her death.

All of this is common knowledge to Jane Austen fans but new to me as a result of the Wodehouse Challenge.
