I, too, believe it's essential to consider the author. An inspirational author is more likely to write a reasonable and non-exploitative memoir than a commercial celebrity such as some tween dance prodigy.
I believe you could find something in your life worth writing about if you tried. My life is also less than ideal, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to share my story with others. Sure, it's the exact opposite of the rosy success story everyone wants to hear, but there's still value to it. I may have lost some friends while others gained them, but I believe there's a life lesson within my past relationship issues. If I ever publish my anecdote about how I wore heels to please a rude classmate, it will entertain audiences and inspire them to treasure their self-respect. I'm sure you can also find an experience in your life that has taught you valuable lessons worth sharing with others.
