Interesting perspective, Minja. Personally, I rarely share my political self online. Honestly, my perspective pisses off both sides, and I don't feel like I need to argue my viewpoint. Besides, when it comes to politics, peoples communication style tends to be abusive, rather than factual based. They resort to belittling accusations, rather than discussion, where both can learn from each other. If I don't agree with an extreme liberal, then I am an anti-gay, racist, Christian, biggot. If I don't agree with the conservative, then I am an ignorant libtard, who lacks understanding of the constitution or history. For example, I see the families being separated and think it is a horrible thing. Yet, I also see the purpose of vetting people and stopping the cartel and child sex industry from using our weakened immigration system as a portal. I tend to look at things as a whole, rather than just pick at the parts, but most on the internet who are vocal, tend to present extremist views on one side or the other. Extreme conservatives tend to make excuses for our president's poor choices, while extreme liberals tend to dismiss what our president has done right. As far as your comment about people being good or bad, I think we all have both, but what is bad and good is a matter of personal perspective. As Charlie mentioned about our shared communication style of overexplaining, one person might see it as negatively condescending, while another might appreciate the more complete explanation. Then there are varying ideas on what good morals and bad morals are. For example, In some cultures, it is not immoral to be polyamourous, while in others it is considered bad and immoral. Here in the United States, morality and opinions on good and bad are greatly influenced by Jewish and Christian ethics. Some of those may or may not be the same in other parts of the world, where these religions are not a heavy influence. It is all a matter of perspective. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
