I picked that Edgar Allan Poe quote too! :)
I like the Freud quote. It's simple but real, I think. Expressing emotions in a healthy way when they are relevant is one of the biggest challenges for me personally, and I relate to how they come out later in destructive ways.
The RD Lang quote is fantastic. It's absolutely true that we live in a world of questionable sanity, moreso every day it seems. It's a struggle to respond to it in a healthy way.
I actually like the Voltaire quote. The word madness doesn't bother me, and I think he summed it up pretty well.
The Abdu'l-Baha quote is lovely. I'm not a particularly spiritual person, but I do believe firmly in helping the less fortunate, and I can see how pulling oneself up to do good for another can be uplifting. The problem with it though, is what if your social anxiety and agoraphobia keeps you from exploring options? Or the depression is so bad you can't hardly move from the couch? It would be great if this was a cure, but I think it's just a helpful piece of the overall puzzle.
