Seuzz is misremembering - the kenandandra connection came after Will’s ability to break down and manipulate sigils. It was originally to solve the mystery of how Will “fell through” the Libra and emerged on the other side. This was solved long after his ability to copy and manipulate sigils. I know because a long ass time ago (before I had to leave and do other things for a very long time) I wrote the branch with Fane and Hal and Cambridge cultist sacrifice and we discussed it a lot at the time. Fane if anyone’s curious is a combination of two things: an old word for temple (from which we get the opposite profane), and a reference to brothers Walter and Francis Fane, who raised cavalry regiments in India against the Indian rebellion and opium war. The idea of using a country’s own strength against itself to suppress and control an empire seemed to fit the sinister organization. Rugal: if you are referring to how JM would react to Kristy, I think she wouldn’t understand her at all, and probably tried to empathize by talking about her friends back home - Big Sur brats with as much privilege as her - and not realizing she’s ignoring Kristy’s point and turning the conversation about herself. It also is likely she would have stood by as Mary bullied her relentlessly (and felt terrible about it). That all said, JM is friendly with Alex Day enough that she sent Will to her in one branch - that means they are still in touch at least. It was something I was going to explore but did not have time. So she can talk to people who don’t conform to social rigeurs: she is just very aware they are outside of that system and treats them with caution. |
