I have only been working on branches that are comparatively recent, and so far the only really substantive changes have been to descriptions of the seventh spell and the third spell. There are places where I have tweaked descriptions of other spells, but that's been me being rather OCD. I'll also give a more general description of what I'm doing, and l start by talking about what I'm doing, then relate it to the kind of effect it might have on other author's stuff. 1. As I said above, the branches I am currently going through are pretty recent, so the changes have actually been pretty light, compared to what I fear is coming next. Mostly I have been tweaking descriptions of spells to bring them in line with the revised versions. These changes are small enough that I'm not going to worry about other authors' descriptions of the spells. If you reread your stuff and see a discrepancy that bothers you, you can do a rewrite and send it to me to edit in. But it's entirely up to you whether you want to do that or not. I am perfectly content to let out-of-date descriptions remain in the chapters of other authors. In terms of bringing spell descriptions up to date, this is mostly about fixing my stuff, and less about fixing BoM. 2. I have moved some content to the NC-BoM, but except for the vore branch, it has been solely my content that I have moved. I think each author should be the judge of whether they want to see a storyline moved out of BoM but saved in the NC-BoM. For this reason, I am not even looking at chapters by other authors unless I have chapters mixed up with theirs. So, for instance, I have not even looked at rugal's above-mentioned "The Female of the Species," and I have also passed over "The Test Department" . 3. Things are going to get a lot rougher once I get into the older chapters, like the sort of chapters that come after "A Friendship is Renewed." Spell descriptions aren't the only issue there. So is spell behavior, specifically the change in how mask/band combos effect people who aren't Will. (They get memories a lot slower than he does now.) That is going to be a huge issue because that kind of change effects how plots evolve. There may also be severe calendar issues. I will not know what I am going to do until I reach those areas, and my decisions will have to be on a case-by-case basis. But it is among those early chapters that there are likely to be giant sections that get moved simply because they cannot be salvaged, and is likely where other authors' branches will have to be talked about because theirs and mine are so thoroughly mixed up in each other. I'm not saying that all problematic branches are going to get purged or will undergo a ruthless edit. As I say, it will have to be on a case-by-case basis, and I can easily imagine decisions to leave many branches alone simply because negotiating their repair or removal would be harder than letting them stay, problems and all. I don't know if that helps, but it's about all that I can say for now. |
