I review a lot of lengthy manuscripts -- many outside of WdC. If the writer has not done it, my first step is to assign paragraph numbers and/or line numbers, sometimes both. This lets me instantly refer the author to a specific spot in the text. I would like to see that feature in WdC.
A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences,
for the same reason a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts.
Make every word tell.
