Re: Bard's Hall - January 2025
Woohoo! Welcome to WdC and to my challenge! *Heart*

In case you didn't read all the instructions, in case you get behind, don't freak out and abandon all hope. You can always catch up! I just told someone earlier today that they should try to catch up on 2017 and 2018 so they can have done every single month of "The Contest ChallengeOpen in new Window. since it started so they can be in the Giant January Celebration. But we'll discuss how to catch up later, if you ever need to (and the instructions don't tell you everything you need to know -- I like to think they do, but sometimes there are still questions). The main 2 points about catching up are to be sure you enter a contest from that month/year (use the dropnotes to see what I highlighted then) and to use the current contest prompt. (A surprising number of people will dig through contest forums to hunt down the old prompt. Uhh...but you can't win the current round if you are entering with an old prompt. lol)

Anyway, welcome!

Just so you know, you don't NEED the month/year in the post title here if you are doing the current month/year. It's not wrong to include it and those who are catching up on a lot of entries will often always include it to ensure they don't forget when doing catch-ups. But it's not strictly necessary.

The other thing is not actually correct. You posted the link to your item. I read and reviewed it and it was hilarious, so I'm sort of glad you posted wrong here. lol But that item only proves you wrote something. It doesn't prove you actually entered the contest. I want proof you entered. You do that by posting a link to your forum post in the contest forum. You use {post:#######} to do that. You can always copy the post number after creating the post in the contest forum. But if you come here right after, you don't need to. After you type the colon (after the opening curly brace and the word "post"), the system should automatically populate your last 7 (I think) forum posts so you can just choose it from there. No fuss. No muss. lol

There's an example of how to post (including how to do a late/catch-up entry) just above the forum here, at the bottom of the main part of the page. In fact, if you use the jump links at the top of the page to get to the forum, you'll see it actually includes the examples at the top instead of only putting you exactly at the forum. But don't worry. I try to make the hard part of this challenge just entering the contests, not actually posting in the forum. Thus, I always do my best to give credit. Even if you accidentally enter the wrong contest, I'll try to find another month/year where I highlighted that contest and if I have highlighted it before, I'll give you credit for that month/year (as if you were working to catch up) so your entry is (hopefully) never wasted. I once had a participant manage to post here 12 times in a row, each time doing it wrong. It was actually quite impressive, TBH. Hahaha! Anyway, I always checked to be sure she did truly enter, then gave her credit. She "won" the challenge after managing 12 "wrong" entries. Hahaha!

Anyway, welcome to the challenge and to the site! If you fan me, besides getting 10k GPs (gift points), you'll also see I'm going to be running (hopefully this weekend) a MB (merit badge) giveaway for people who have done every single month since the challenge began! None of them actually started back in February 2017 and some weren't even members then. lol But if you ever feel spry and want to try catching up on EVERY SINGLE MONTH since February 2017, you are welcome to go for it! You can work in any order and do as many or as few entries as you want each month. Just be sure you post the month/year you want credit for so you get the correct credit. Each January, everyone who has fully caught up since the very beginning gets 500k GPs and 100+ MBs (which equals 100+ CRs -- community recognition points, the number by our names...yours is currently 5). They also get a variety of other things as I see fit, differing each year. Sometimes I let them choose things from the WdC Shop and I pay and ship them to them for free (even overseas). I usually get them tickets to various raffles in January. I could go on about the variety of prizes they get, but know that they are worth it. I usually spend $4000-6000 on the total rewards! (There are 10 celebrants this January, to give you an idea of how many people do this.) No, they don't get any actual cash. Hahaha! But I do reward them very well!

I swear not all my post responses are this long! lol

Anyway, if you fan me (double click my heart until it turns yellow/gold), you'll have a chance to see my Newsfeed notes where you'll see me advertising the opportunity to send them MBs. MBs cost 10k GPs. When a person finishes 12 consecutive months of this challenge, they get a Newsfeed Celebration where I advertise them on the Newsfeed and pay people to send them MBs (which also boosts their CRs and thus their prestige within the community). I normally pay 11k GPs for each MB sent so folks normally earn 1k per MB sent. Though you get a free MB to send out every 30 days. If you are sending out your free MB, I don't pay you any less. I still pay you 11k, so you get that full 11k free and clear! Woohoo!

Anyway, that's just for folks who have done 1 year. For those who have done all 8 years, each January I pay 15k per MB for them. People are then earning 5k per MB they send. That really helps me get a lot of participation so they can get their 100+ MBs (and CRs). Anyway, the main point of all this is to say that if you fan me, you can see when I advertise this (hopefully this weekend) and you can participate and earn a bunch of GPs and make people happy when they get a MB from you. If you need help with how to send a MB, I'm always happy to teach this. *Heart* And if you don't have enough GPs to send them all at once (you can just put a comma and space between each person's username to send a group of MBs at once), you can either send a few at a time, as you can afford (I reimburse throughout the day of the activity) or you can ask for all the GPs up front. I can easily see if you sent out the MBs (MBs are visible in people's ports) so I can tell when you've sent them out so I'm not worried about you saying you did and not actually doing it. lol There's no pressure to participate, but it's a great way to earn some GPs while also starting to make friends! *Heart*

Okay, I've traumatized you enough with info overload. Doh! Sorry about that! Main point -- welcome to my challenge and to WdC! I hope to see you around a lot more!
