I think that's it's a form of racism to be prejudiced against a certain class of people, yes, whether they're Caucasians who live in mobile homes, people with dark skin, or people with foreign accents. Same dif. Racism. In my opinion! Not to insult your dad.... We talked about that as a family (another one of our "teachable moments" in our home education career) when Cherie was reading Gone with the Wind aloud to us in, like, 1998, and the plot deals with "white trash" doing buying plantations after the war. Rachel and Jim and I didn't know what the term meant, so Cherie, a sociologist always, and Steve, who loves to discuss anything under the sun, launched a big discussion. Anyway! Good luck with the situation, my dear. If you can possibly work anything out, I swear, it's worth it. There were times when I thought it would be so much easier to turn and run away -- and it would have been easier -- but I'm so incredibly glad I stuck it through and I have a much better relationship with Steve -- and Cherie -- because of it. I'll say a prayer for you and your family! Eh, gotta go, so I'll read your other posts later! Visit my web site at http://elizabeth.bouma-holtrop.com! |
