And suddenly, you're on your ordinary bed, in your ordinary bedroom in your ordinary house. You get up, shaking your head at the crazy dream that you just experienced and look around, making sure that everything looks in place. At first glance it seems to be, except for two things.
"Huh, where are the machines?" you thought, pretty sure they were right there next to your TV, now there was nothing, only the remote control that usually spends its time playing hide and seek. Neither of the devices were there, did something from that strange dream actually happened? or maybe while you were out cold in that crazy dream your mom just let Aaron came in and get his stuff from your room.
You consider the first option, so try to remember what happened in that dream. In the dream the machines activated themselves, Aaron's face appeared on one of the screens saying things were almost ready to see giantesses in real life (you didn't expect him to be that enthusiastic about it when you finally decided to share your kink with him), you thought he was going crazy from the way he was talking and then.. then everything felt like a dream. You thought you saw some anime characters looking like they were in trouble or something, destroyed the machines, then saw your own body as if you were in an astral projection and a bright light that enveloped anything before just waking up. It scares you a bit that you can remember it so vividly but nothing there suggests it happened, bar the devices, the room is exactly as you remember.
What happened next however wasn't ordinary at all?
"Mom, did Aaron come while I was sleeping?"
"Who?" Your mother Hannah frowned at you, looking confused
"You know, my best friend" To your surprise, your mother's expression didn't change. Why? She has seen Aaron tons of times
"Um.. nobody has come, sweetie. Are you expecting someone?" She finally said, looking like she was forcing that last question a bit, what was going on? Did she really forget all about Aaron?
"Nevermind I uh.. just had a silly dream" you tried, and your fears got confirmed as your mother gave you a look of understanding
"Oh, it's alright. If you want to invite a friend just say it, I will make sure your sisters don't bother you" she smiled at you and went back to continue her gardening project, while you went back to lock yourself in your room.
"What the hell? Where did he go?" You check your phone and your contacts, he isn't there. You check your mail, the school yearbook, your social networks, your gaming profiles.. no sign of him. It's like he never existed! The worst part is that there was nothing consistently filling the blanks. On co-op games records or homework group projects, now there were usernames and people you didn't recognize at all, while in things like pictures, chat history and the like nothing was there at all. Going from your mother's reaction, you didn't have a best friend Aaron because you didn't have a best friend at all.
Distressed, you recall the dream again but find nothing that could connect to a disappearance, other than his weird behavior on the screen you simply don't recalll anything that gives you a hint on why your best friend apparently doesn't exist and never existed. Was it your fault? You couldn't even tell but you felt guilty anyway. After a couple of hours feeling powerless about it all you just try to disconnect and move on, deciding to watch TV at least to have some white noise going on and maybe later your brain will finally remember something helpful, but you almost shout with surprise when you find a small note attached to the back of the remote control that was suspiciously lying there next to the TV as if you were an organized person.
"I think I did it, your adventure can now start. See you there! -A"
A hint, finally! It was good to know Aaron existed and seemed to be alright, but other than that you didn't know much else. What adventure? What did he mean? And recalling the dream again you cannot help but wonder if what he said about giantesses and his devices could be true. Was this why apparently he wiped himself from reality? weird.
Half scared and half excited, you knew there was only one option to take, you turned the TV and.. nothing happened. But it was the news channel, so you started zapping channels until you stumbled with one showing an anime.
