You bolt at blinding speeds along the road, a man made dirt path mainly straight and smooth, allowing you to easily direct the thunderous mount. The road, although long, would directly lead to the castle, as well as take a much shorter time on this fast stallion. Your own horse, not being as strong and agile, would take much longer on this route.
As you looked into the horizon, you saw to your delight the parapets of the Castle, but also, a shape within the sky. It looked like a bird, but it was too high up to see as it passed over you, and behind. You forget about it, and continue on your route to the castle.
You eventually reach over a hill; the Castle was only minutes away. Fully visible, but a great shadow fell over you and your steed. Matching speed, and then surpassing it with ease. You look to see the form of a gryphon only a few feet above you, its shadow hiding the color of its feathers
When it came in front of you, it swiftly turned, becoming vertical, its front talons and hind claws bared. Its wings extending to slow himself, you and your horse colliding into him, you were struck at the shoulders, flinging you back, the sound of your horse crying out ringing in your ears. You fall and roll along the ground several times before passing out.
You awake with a low groan, your body felt as if it had been beaten all over. Your clothes were ripped in several places. Multiple bruises, scratches, and cuts stung and ached over your skin. You look around to see that you were in a man made building; it looked like and old barracks.
The bunk beds and other wooden furniture were crushed, piled up against the front door, you lay in what you decided was a nest, made from mattresses, pillows, rugs, banners, and any other form of man made cloth. You lift up a banner to see that it bore an insignia of a rival kingdom. You think to yourself, could the gryphon taken me so far? Perhaps this is an old outpost from the wars… Several feathers were strung about you, some were from birds, used to stuff the mattresses and pillows, but many of them were unmistakably from a gryphon...
[ It seems this Gryphon has a taste for finer things, but the question remains, what kind is it, look at the feathers, what color are they?]
