You keep your mouth closed as you stare her in the face. She laughs. "Are you stunned by my beauty land walker? I'm flattered. You might be fun to keep around for a bit. Do you still want to use that necklace to make you into one of us? We can show you the world like you've never seen it before."

You thought you'd be doing this without other mermaids watching you. They are a tricky people generally. But it sounds like these ones are not as hostile as you may have thought.
