An orbital disaster

Coming onto the bridge Picard looks at the main viewer and sees a large amount of debris floating lazily through space. in the background is the rust coloured planet of Gular II.

"What happened?" asks Picard as he walks towards the command chair.

"Unknown sir," replies Data, "Although we are picking up severe electromagnetic interference."

"The source?" asks Riker.

"Also unknown."

Picard stands there, fixated on the debris on the viewscreen. He then hears the turbolift doors open and close. Turning he sees Counselor Troi coming onto the bridge to stand beside Worf.

"What was the crew complement of the Science Station?" inquires Picard with renewed interest.

"Approximately One Hundred and twenty three," stated Data.

"That's awful!" announces Counsellor Troi, leaning on the railing in shock.

Picard then...
