You came to a halt behind a line of cars at a stop light. As you drummed your fingers impatiently on the wheel, waiting for the crowd of students to clear the crosswalk, you thought you heard a faint “thud.” You raised an eyebrow and turned down the radio to make sure you weren’t hearing things. Sure enough, you heard it again. This time it seemed closer- you were able to feel it through your seat, like the ground was shaking. You shrugged and turned the radio back up. There were several construction sites on the campus; it was probably something going on over at one of them.
Then, you looked up, and noticed the crowd of students. No longer was everyone hustling and bustling in all directions on their way to class or dorms or the library or whatever. Now everyone was moving- running- in the same direction: away from you. A few cast frightened glances over their shoulders, and several more were awkwardly jogging backwards, their phones aimed at something behind and above you.
You had seen enough movies to know that when scores of people all started running in one direction in a panic, you wanted to be going the same direction. Traffic was at a standstill in both directions, so you moved to throw open the door and start moving by foot. You’d find safety and find out what the hell was going on and then make your way to Katie at the infirmary.
As you fumbled with the door lock, though… BOOOM! You’re entire car bounced what felt like a foot off the ground amid a deafening crash. You shook your head to try to stop seeing stars, but when your vision cleared, your mouth dropped open in disbelief.
Someone was standing right outside your drivers side window, in the street. A woman probably, judging by the clean-shaven leg. That was all you had to go by, though, because you couldn’t see anything past the bottom of her calf. A fucking giant was standing less than a yard away from you- her bare foot, deceptively normal apart from the impossible scale, was over half the size of your car!
As you watched, the bones and muscle of the foot and ankle worked and shifted, and the giant took a step forward. “Sorry!” you heard a deep voice say from above you. “I’m trying to not step on anything!” She tried to assure people as she took another step. “Be careful!” she said- you weren't sure whether it was to herself or someone by her foot.
By now you could see the giant in full. Her bare back was to you, but it was definitely a young woman. She had shoulder-length brown hair and only seemed to be wearing a canvas tarp or something wrapped around her hips, striped with the school colors and only really covering her upper thighs. None of the four and five story buildings along the street reached past her shoulders.
You hesitantly opened the door and stepped out of the car. Around you, others who had ducked into cars or buildings instead of fleeing down the street were cautiously doing the same. You stared down at the footprint you were standing in, barely able to comprehend it, before turning your focus back to the giant woman still carefully walking down the street.
Something behind her must have caught her attention, because she stopped. She turned around and you gasped in shock when you saw that this impossible 50-foot woman was none other than your 18-year old daughter, and she looked…
