Your heart broke. Katie looked terrified. Her eyes were red and bloodshot and her face was streaked with tears. Her arms were clasped tightly over her chest, and as she turned to look behind herself, her eyes darted around like those of a frightened animal, more whites than anything else.
Before you could collect yourself and alert your daughter to your presence, she turned back around and resumed her methodical, awkward march down the street. “I’m sorry,” you heard her say. It seemed to be meant as a whisper, but it was apparently hard for a building-size girl to whisper anything. “I-I can’t help myself. I n-need it… I need more.” She gave a strangled sob.
Your distressed daughter finally rebooted your brain. “Katie!” you called, running down the street after her and waving your arms. “Katie! It’s me! It’s Dad!”
You caught up to where Katie was awkwardly trying to step around abandoned cars and bicycles, yelling frantically. Until finally...KATIE!”
You daughter jerked in surprise mid-step at the sound of your voice, and an abandoned motorcycle vanished under her foot. Katie yelped in dismay and jerked her foot up, but that only unbalanced her more and she took several unsteady steps back. A couple of bicycles were flattened and the hood of a sedan crumpled under her heel.
“Katie! I-it’s OK! There’s no one in them! No one’s hurt!” Katie looked down at you as she steadied herself. The tears were flowing freely and she looked like she was about to start full-on bawling at any second.
“D-dad!” she cried. “Get away! Get away from me! I-I’m dangerous! I can’t control myself!”
“Katie, we’ll figure this out!” you tried to reassure her. “What’s going on? Is this that chemical? The fertilizer?”
Katie looked down the street in the direction she’d been walking, longingly, you thought, but then dragged her head back around and down to look at you. “Y-yeah,” she said miserably. “It made me grow, but...but it’s, like, super addictive. I have to have more. I can’t stop myself.” She renewed her march down the street. “You have to get away. I’m just gonna get bigger,” she said, not looking back at you. “Please, I don’t know how big I’ll get…”
About half a block farther on, Katie stopped and turned to face a building that was about a head taller than she was. She took a shuddering breath and unwrapped one arm from her chest. She seemed to war with herself for a moment, her fingers working and clenching, but then she thrust her arm into the fourth floor window, about at her chest level.
She rummaged around for a moment, then brought her arm back out of the building, a 55-gallon drum clutched in her hand like a soda can.
She brought her other hand up, either not noticing or beyond caring that this left her Volkswagen-sized breasts exposed, and pried the lid off the drum. She knocked back its contents like a shot, dropped the drum, and pulled another out of the building.
Katie downed four of the barrels before she stopped, now starting to breathe heavily. “Ohhhh,” she moaned. “Here it comes…” Her hands danced across her body as she moaned, and then, abruptly she started to grow.
1) Katie doubles in size to over 100 feet tall. The cravings return, but she still tries to fight them...
2) Katie explodes in size to over 300 feet tall. She starting to realize that she likes being big- and having the power to get bigger...
3) OD’ing on the fertilizer has gotten rid of the cravings, but now Katie is continuously growing out of control...
