Chapter #3

capture

Those claws are bigger than anything you have ever heard of!
Well, no, not really. You have seen things like dinosaurs, and these claws are way smaller than that. Tho those claws were not confronting you in the middle of the night, and were not attached to ... You look up a pair of oversized legs to..

...A dragon? The very image of those you had read those about, complete with wings that surely can't lift such a big creature, but are too big not to? How can such a creature be?

More to the point, what is it going to do? And what should you do?

This last is easy to answer, nothing. Good advice in dealing with just about any wild creature, and you are too scared to move in any case. All those stories you had read about dragons capturing virgin princesses have done nothing to prepare you for the reality [which is completely unreal. Not only are dragons impossible, you are very much no princess. Virgin yes, tho you have to admit this has more to do with loutish males than any purity of soul on your part, but you and yours are part of the common herd.] Those princesses may have been scared, but they weren't worrying about soiling their panties scared.

But what is it going to do? Go away sounds so appealing. A little part of your soul may be talking about all your dreams coming true, but it is being drowned out by the more rational parts that insist you do not want to be a midnight snack.
In the stories, the dragon carries the princess off to captivity, and she is rescued by the handsome prince. Just where are you going to find a prince? The jerks you know? You'd rather take your chances with the dragon.
That does bring up a point. You have always had this fascination with the dragon's treatment of the princess and the heroic rescue was always a bit of a let-down. They were just stories, and don't really mean anything, but you had never mentioned those feeling for fear they would mark you as some sort of sickie that actually wanted to be mistreated.
But now that you think of it, you really would rather risk a [non-hungry] dragon than be grateful for rescue by one of those losers...

As if the dragon is reading your mind, it now grabs you and pulls you to its chest, your vision now full of dragon scales [which are almost hot. Dragons are said to be firebreathing. Could that impossibility be true too?] Holding you there, it turns around and you glimpse a huge shimmering ball of blue. You vaguely realize it has been slightly lighting up the area all this time, and that is what was allowing you to see on this moonless night.

But there is no time to think as the dragon leaps into the ball. There is a moment of confusion and then you see...
