It's a castle. An actual Middle Ages castle? Your knowledge of them is not extreme, but it sure looks like one. More important, it seems new, not some preserved ruin. Oh, it might be decades, or even centuries, old, but somebody has been repairing the roof , applying paint, and "cutting the lawn". Somebody [or something?] is very much in residence.
As you and the dragon approach, you make out more detail. The "lawn" proves to be fields of crops, which are being worked. You see some of them look at you and gesture. This seems to cause considerable excitement, but not terror. Indeed, some of the workers don't even look up as they continue their labor. And most of the rest return to their own jobs before long.
Not all tho. Some carefully stare at the dragon, watching its every motion. Guards to call out a warning? Could be. They have to know the dragon is dangerous. But maybe there is some protection she can't see. A deal where it gets a virgin every year? Hopefully not, but at least it would make sense. The locals would not worry too much about the dragon, but would keep an eye on it just in case it decided to cheat on the agreement. The idea is probably completely off. At least it had better be. But it at least makes sense. And recently nothing much has.
The dragon pays no attention to the peasants [whose tools may be correct for the Middle Ages too.] and flies on towards the castle. Soon that huge work is looming up. Guards are on top of the wall, and are blowing alarms and gesturing. But as with the peasants, this seems to be, if not routine, at least no emergency or reason to be scared.
It is a reason for you to be scared. That dragon is only going to barely scrap over the top of the wall, and you are on the bottom of the dragon. If it misjudges by even a little bit.... You bury your face in the dragon's huge chest and pray.
A moment later, you feel something different. You risk a peek, and see the dragon is banking down, preparing to land. A look forward shows the opposite wall of the castle is approaching rapidly and the dragon is not going to land before it smashes into it. Again, you bury your face.
Again, things feel different, and you look, and again are not thrilled by what you see. Somehow the dragon has managed a 90 degree turn and is racing to yet another wall. This time, you manage to keep watching as the dragon goes thru yet another scary turn.
The ground is close now, but the dragon must still make another turn, just as frightening, before it can make an actual landing, and then lets you go, allowing you to kiss the ground in joy.
That joy of course is short-lived, and you look up some what fearfully at some approaching people who have you as their destination. There is no clear hostility, but they do not look sympathetic, or even friendly.
